What I do

fuelled by stories, driven by words.

Hi! I’m Jency, an English educator who has been passionate about the transformative power of language for as long as I can remember.

I believe that reading is one of the most powerful ways to gain exposure to the world—its cultures, ideas, and endless stories. Writing, too, is a beautiful tool that allows us to explore the vastness of words and give shape to our thoughts.

Some of the pieces you’ll find in this space were written over a decade ago, each one a marker along my evolving journey with words. Beyond writing, I also strive to cultivate a love for reading in others through The Inner Shelf Book Club, a community I founded in Singapore to inspire thoughtful conversations around books.

Stay tuned to journey with me through the pages, reflections, and stories that continue to shape this lifelong adventure.

BETWEEN THE LINES…

WHAT HAS ALWAYS STUCK WITH YOU?

You taught me the courage of stars before you left.
How light carries on endlessly, even after death.
With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite.
How rare and beautiful it is to even exist.
